Adventure Game Engine (AGE)

Overview

The Adventure Game Engine (AGE) is a tabletop roleplaying game system designed by Chris Pramas and published by Green Ronin Publishing, first introduced in the
Dragon Age Roleplaying Game https://groupfinder.gg/library/dragon-age-rpg
, an officially licensed adaptation of BioWare's video game series. Rather than staying tied to that one setting, AGE was generalized into a standalone toolkit that Green Ronin has since reused across a growing family of otherwise unrelated game lines:
Fantasy AGE https://groupfinder.gg/library/fantasy-age
,
Modern AGE https://groupfinder.gg/library/modern-age
,
The Expanse Roleplaying Game https://groupfinder.gg/library/the-expanse-rpg
,
Blue Rose: The AGE Roleplaying Game of Romantic Fantasy https://groupfinder.gg/library/blue-rose-rpg
, and
Cthulhu Awakens
. Each line shares the same dice math and character-building vocabulary while reskinning them for a different genre, from grim high fantasy to hard-science-fiction space opera.

Description

Sit down at any AGE table and the character sheet looks familiar whatever the setting: a handful of ability scores, a page of Focuses that narrow down what a character is actually good at, some Talents, and a Health track that goes down rather than up. What changes by line is who's being played and what the group is doing with them. Dragon Age and Fantasy AGE put players in a class-based, sword-and-sorcery world built on the same tropes as the video games. Modern AGE drops the classes in favor of a freeform, contemporary or near-future toolkit for playing civilians, agents, or specialists; The Expanse puts players on a scraping-by crew in a hard-edged solar system where violence is fast and often permanent; Blue Rose asks for heroes of a deliberately hopeful, consent-based fantasy nation. The Game Master narrates outcomes and calls for rolls, and underneath every one of those settings sits the same rhythm: roll, hope for doubles, and spend what's earned on a stunt table built for the scene in front of you.

Play an Old-Worlder witnessing our fantastic universe for the first time, or a Masquerader taking on different identities each day. Description This second edition runs on an entirely new diceless system. What consequences you are willing to accept in order to win? Discover five different futures: To The Stars, where you form a first-contact team reconnecting with the lost seeds of humanity. The Divide, full of espionage and intrigue, where trust is hard to find and the sides are ever shifting. The Powder Keg, a universe tumbling into a war that may mean the end of everything. Sublight, where secret societies champion their causes by transmitting their operatives across the stars. The Patent Office, where your team of Inspectors seeks to protect humanity from its own worst excesses. The future is bright, but not without danger. Come explore it with us. Free
LoreMonkey is a Windows app that records and transcribes D&D and other tabletop RPG sessions on your own PC. Connect the Discord desktop app and every line is labelled with the character who said it. No bot joins the call and no audio leaves your computer. For in-person games you can record the room with a microphone instead. After each game it writes a recap in your group's own style.  During play it offers short, well-timed prompts drawn from your campaign notes. It also keeps a compendium of your party, NPCs, places, factions and open threads. Ask LoreMonkey answers campaign questions between sessions and cites the sessions each answer came from. Recording and transcription are free and unlimited, it works for both players and GMs, and it supports any game system. Pricing The free tier is free forever. It includes unlimited recording, transcription and speaker labels for one campaign, plus a trial of the AI features (live prompts and recaps). Paid plans are monthly: Lite is $9.99 for one campaign, Standard is $19.99 for unlimited campaigns and adds Ask LoreMonkey, and Pro is $39.99 for several weekly tables. Notes Only one person at the table needs to install it. Speaker labels come from the Discord desktop app, so no bot joins the call. Audio and transcripts stay on the user's PC, and only the AI features send text out. It works with any game system and has separate Player and GM modes.
