DMCal

Overview

dmcal is session scheduling for tabletop campaigns. Players mark when they're free once; the DM sees the nights that work, schedules the session, and everyone answers from the email with one tap.

Three steps, then it runs itself

1. Everyone marks when they're free

Weekly hours, every-other-week or "first and third" cadences, and one-off overrides. Players set it once; dmcal expands it across the coming weeks in each player's own time zone.

2. The DM sees what works

A heatmap of the whole table's free time, recommended slots ranked by who can make it, and a quorum line so "we play with four" is a rule, not a hope.

3. Schedule it, and everyone's told

One session or a whole run of them. Each player gets an email with Going / Maybe / Can't buttons and a calendar invite; the DM hears about every answer; reminders go out the day before with last session's recap.

Beyond Tabletop

Virtual tabletop (VTT)

Beyond Tabletop is a streamlined, web based suite of tools designed to enhance both online and in person roleplaying sessions. Developed as a lightweight alternative to bulky virtual tabletops, it focuses on speed, simplicity, and real time synchronization using Google Firebase technology. It is built for players who want digital character sheets and tactical maps without the steep learning curve or high system requirements of more complex platforms. Description Beyond Tabletop is designed to remove the "baggage" often associated with digital gaming tools. It offers a clean, mobile friendly interface that works on any device with a web browser. The platform provides dedicated support for Dungeons & Dragons 5e and Pathfinder, featuring automated character sheets and a highly intuitive mapping system. Rather than replacing the tabletop experience, it seeks to modernize the traditional pen and paper feel through real time collaboration and easy link sharing. System Overview & Key Features Real-time Firebase integration Every change made to a character sheet or a map is updated instantly for all connected players. There is no need to refresh the page or manually save progress, making it one of the most responsive browser based tools for tracking combat and health. Streamlined Character Sheets The platform includes built in libraries for core classes, feats, spells, and conditions for 5e and Pathfinder. These sheets are designed to handle the tedious math of leveling up while remaining flexible enough for homebrew customizations and unique character builds. Simple Tactical Mapping The map tool focuses on core utility over flashy graphics. GMs can quickly upload background images, place tokens, and draw shapes to define the battlefield. It includes a built in initiative tracker and status effect markers that are visible to the entire party. Device Agnostic Design Because it is a lightweight web application, Beyond Tabletop runs smoothly on smartphones, tablets, and laptops. This makes it a perfect companion for in person games where players want to manage their sheets digitally without taking up massive space at the physical table. Easy Link Sharing Sharing a campaign or a specific map is as simple as sending a URL. There are no complicated server permissions or software invites required, allowing new players to join a session and see the game state in seconds. Donation Based The full suite of tools is available for free. The developers maintain the servers through the generosity of the community, ensuring that there are no paywalls or subscription tiers blocking access to essential gameplay features. Merak is a map maker for worldbuilders. Five kinds of map live in one document: a political map of Earth, an editable Earth with real terrain, a blank world, a fantasy map and a city board, and factions, units, labels, cities and lore carry across all of them. Land can be raised, lowered, smoothed, flattened, roughened and worn down with droplet erosion; biomes paint on top; a thin river tool cuts channels without shattering the coast. The world generator builds plates, mountain chains and weathered coastlines from a single seed, and the Planet Advisor checks whether the result could exist at all, whether rivers have anywhere to drain, whether the biomes suit their latitude. An elevation probe reads back true metres and slope, and any map can be viewed in 3D or wrapped onto a shader globe. Custom empires are drawn freehand with a lasso, and a coast mode clips the outline to the actual shoreline so borders follow the water instead of cutting across it. The arsenal and battle system has faction tinting and stacking counts, alongside commanders carrying portraits, ranks, decorations and an order of battle. Operational arrows play out as scripted advances with per-province combat. On a battle map, Fight animates the whole clash: infantry and armour close to melee under a counter system, artillery bombards from range with splash damage, aircraft strike fast and hard, and badly wounded units break off to a field hospital, heal, and return to the line. The timeline holds the progress of the map over the years. Lore notes form a small in-map wiki placed anywhere or pinned to a city, unit or flag, and linked to one another. Raster paints layers with blend modes, pressure and grain; an Asset Studio for custom symbols; flag and insignia makers; a colour studio. Finished maps exported as PNG up to 16K.
