LegendKeeper

Overview

LegendKeeper is a browser-based worldbuilding application and campaign management tool designed for tabletop role-playing games and creative writing. Developed independently by Braden Marshall and the LegendKeeper team, the platform functions as a collaborative digital wiki and interactive map archive. It is engineered specifically to assist Game Masters and authors in organizing lore, structuring narratives, and tracking geographical locations without the mechanical overhead of a virtual tabletop (VTT).

Description

LegendKeeper operates as a centralized, cloud-based repository for campaign data. Instead of providing digital dice rollers, tactical grids, or character sheets, the software focuses entirely on documentation and worldbuilding. Users construct interconnected wiki pages to detail characters, factions, and histories, which can then be directly linked to customizable, interactive maps. The platform supports granular permission settings, allowing a Game Master to selectively share specific articles or map pins with players while keeping underlying secrets hidden.

Key features

Wiki and Rich Text Editor

The core of the platform is a comprehensive wiki system. Users can create formatted articles using a rich text editor that includes slash-commands. The editor allows for the rapid insertion of tables, sub-pages, and formatting structures to organize campaign information in a hierarchical format.

Interactive Mapping

Users can upload high-resolution image files to serve as maps for their fictional worlds, continents, or cities. Game Masters can drop interactive "pins" onto these maps, which hyperlink directly to specific wiki articles. These pins can be categorized with custom tags and filtered, allowing users to isolate specific points of interest on the map.

Auto-Linking and @Mentions

To facilitate a heavily interconnected database, the software includes link detection and @mention functionality. Typing the '@' symbol followed by the name of an existing page or character automatically generates a hyperlink. Hovering over these links during gameplay provides a quick preview of the associated article without requiring the user to navigate away from their current page.

Whiteboards

The application includes digital whiteboards that allow users to visually map out relationships, family trees, or organizational structures. Users can place text boxes, page links, and images onto a free-form canvas and connect them with nodes to represent complex narrative webs.

Template Management

To reduce repetitive data entry, users can create and save custom page templates. A Game Master can design a standard layout for a tavern, a non-player character, or a dungeon, and instantly apply that structure whenever a new wiki page of that category is generated.

Granular Privacy Controls

Because the tool is designed for collaborative campaigns, it includes robust permission settings. Game Masters can hide specific wiki pages, map pins, or individual blocks of text within an otherwise public article. This allows players to read the known lore of a location while keeping the Game Master's specific session notes completely invisible to them.

Merak is a map maker for worldbuilders. Five kinds of map live in one document: a political map of Earth, an editable Earth with real terrain, a blank world, a fantasy map and a city board, and factions, units, labels, cities and lore carry across all of them. Land can be raised, lowered, smoothed, flattened, roughened and worn down with droplet erosion; biomes paint on top; a thin river tool cuts channels without shattering the coast. The world generator builds plates, mountain chains and weathered coastlines from a single seed, and the Planet Advisor checks whether the result could exist at all, whether rivers have anywhere to drain, whether the biomes suit their latitude. An elevation probe reads back true metres and slope, and any map can be viewed in 3D or wrapped onto a shader globe. Custom empires are drawn freehand with a lasso, and a coast mode clips the outline to the actual shoreline so borders follow the water instead of cutting across it. The arsenal and battle system has faction tinting and stacking counts, alongside commanders carrying portraits, ranks, decorations and an order of battle. Operational arrows play out as scripted advances with per-province combat. On a battle map, Fight animates the whole clash: infantry and armour close to melee under a counter system, artillery bombards from range with splash damage, aircraft strike fast and hard, and badly wounded units break off to a field hospital, heal, and return to the line. The timeline holds the progress of the map over the years. Lore notes form a small in-map wiki placed anywhere or pinned to a city, unit or flag, and linked to one another. Raster paints layers with blend modes, pressure and grain; an Asset Studio for custom symbols; flag and insignia makers; a colour studio. Finished maps exported as PNG up to 16K.

Actual Play
The Planescape is a big place, where gods sit on their eternal thrones, watching over their followers after their death in the mundane world. Where bloody and vicious wars have raged for so long even the immortals don’t remember how they began. Where the paragons of good and evil, law and chaos, impose their will. And where an endless sea of stars flows between it all. Great epics unfold throughout the Multiverse, but this isn’t one of them...  Rolling with Difficulty is a D&D 5e actual play podcast following the adventures of the Spelljammer "Per Aspera" and her crew. Every episode Finbar, Kyana, Dani, and VR-LA travel to the far corners of the Planescape, compeleting odd jobs and errands along the way. A ragtag group of misfits, our heros are united by one thing, their ride, and they're not too concerned about how they keep it running. While the story of the Per Aspera unfolds sequentially, each episode is intended to cover a single entry in the gig-book of the crew, and therefore can be viewed in any order.  Watch along from the beginnning or jump in for a single adventure, no matter how you listen in you're sure to find our heros Rolling with Difficulty!
