Roots and Daggers

Updates & news

For anyone who wants to try us out and is hearing our audio quality. Know that we are going back and improving it. We just re uploaded episode 4 with better audio quality and working our way backwards so you don’t start with episode 1, sounds good, then episode 2 sounds terrible. We will eventually re-release 1-3 and give you the audio quality and the sound effect you deserve!!! Also by episode 7 imo is where our group really find there stride and their chemistry. But highly recommend listening to earlier episodes. There are JUICY small details that are small ripples…for now!!!
Hey heroes, so we just released episode 7 and 8. This has started our new little adversary arc of the thought stealer, one of the 4 legendary masks. Amongst the players and listeners, it’s been a BIG HIT. It’s thanks to many factors. For 1, the players roleplaying has improved tremendously, the way they interact with the environment and their gameplay mechanics have straight up IMPROVED. The Dm has a really good direction on how to explain the back stories of each PC narratively, then just doing a “flash back”. We just concluded this arc in our episode 10. We’re all very happy and proud of our work and we hope you are enjoying it as well!

Overview

This is Roots and Daggers, an actual play, TTRPG podcast, using the
Daggerheart https://groupfinder.gg/library/daggerheart-2025
system. We’re going back to the roots of TTRPG, where heroes rise, dice decide our fate and chaos is only 1 roll away. Our story takes place in the world of Soltherra. A world functioning with heroes who wield “the light”. Our 5 heroes have just graduated from the Hero program, but have ranked last….200/200th place. Will they rank up high enough go compete in the grand ascendance, a tournament of the generations best heroes? And will they learn what it means to be a hero? Find out in our podcast Roots and Daggers. We’re all first timers. I’m a first time DM and all of my players are first time players. We’ve done our best to bring you the most intriguing, action packed, comedy, drama, mystery adventure. We do make a lot of jokes, but there are times we reach sensitive topics. Please rate us and tell a friend, you’ll be our hero! See you at the ascendance!

Pathfinder 2E
Pathbuilder 2e is the premier digital character builder and sheet for Pathfinder Second Edition. Created by David Wilson (Redrazors), it is celebrated for its speed, near-perfect rules accuracy, and its comprehensive support for the game’s vast library of content. In a significant move for 2025 and 2026, the app finally expanded beyond Android and Web to include a native iOS and iPadOS release, making it accessible across the entire mobile ecosystem. Description Pathbuilder 2e is the "gold standard" for Pathfinder players who want to navigate the system's deep customization without choice paralysis. It tracks every feat, spell, and proficiency bonus from level 1 to 20, ensuring that characters remain rules-legal at every step. While it lacks the high-budget "Nexus" features of competitors like Demiplane, its utility is unmatched; it allows for rapid "theory-crafting" of builds and exports directly to PDF or Foundry VTT. It is widely considered a mandatory tool for anyone playing PF2e regularly.

Rolling with Difficulty

Dungeons & Dragons
Actual Play
The Planescape is a big place, where gods sit on their eternal thrones, watching over their followers after their death in the mundane world. Where bloody and vicious wars have raged for so long even the immortals don’t remember how they began. Where the paragons of good and evil, law and chaos, impose their will. And where an endless sea of stars flows between it all. Great epics unfold throughout the Multiverse, but this isn’t one of them...  Rolling with Difficulty is a D&D 5e actual play podcast following the adventures of the Spelljammer "Per Aspera" and her crew. Every episode Finbar, Kyana, Dani, and VR-LA travel to the far corners of the Planescape, compeleting odd jobs and errands along the way. A ragtag group of misfits, our heros are united by one thing, their ride, and they're not too concerned about how they keep it running. While the story of the Per Aspera unfolds sequentially, each episode is intended to cover a single entry in the gig-book of the crew, and therefore can be viewed in any order.  Watch along from the beginnning or jump in for a single adventure, no matter how you listen in you're sure to find our heros Rolling with Difficulty!
