Phroller: Mobile-Native Cross-Platform VTT

The Next-Gen VTT

Overview

A 3D VTT that won't kill your laptop/phone battery Offline enabled so you can use it as a companion app as well That's mobile native and offers seamless cross-platform play Yup, you heard me. Move a token on your phone, see it move on your GM's laptop. Roll a handful of dice on your iPad, see its results on your Steam Deck.

Platform

Native software: Native compiled code allows for optimizations that web based VTTs can only dream of. Touchscreen first development: Phroller was built for modern touch controls first. Use two fingers to resize/rotate images and control the camera. Better mouse, keyboard and controller support always in the works! No account required: Quick Zoom/Jackbox styled session hosting and joining. All shared assets are shared between the users directly. Offline prep: Phroller lives on your device. Images and Models saved to your collection are put into your own device storage and can be used without an internet connection! Battery life without compromise: I spent weeks optimizing for battery life to make sure the platform stops overheating even through my longest DnD sessions.

Gameplay

Collaborative GM-ing: Every user in a shared session could be given permissions to controls usually reserved for the GM. Ask your players to help draw a basic map, put decals on the board or even randomly place/control enemy tokens while you finalize stat blocks. You can do it at a real table, why not on a VTT? You can even share a revocable passcode with your players to give them full GM privileges! Delightful Physics: More than just delightful dice rolling, you can throw your tokens across the map too! Multi-level maps: easy to adjust level system lets you visualize and manage complex scenes featuring multiple elevations. With 3 different visualization modes depending on your needs. Customize! You can customize the style of the vtt grid, the dice trays, the UI, the dice and even fill any of them with as much custom art as you want. Built in access to several massive libraries of art and symbols to personalize every part of the platform!

Smart Drag and Drop

Images in Decal Mode: Become maps and stickers in Token Mode: Become paper mini/sticker tokens in Prop Mode: Become 2.5D styled paper scenery pieces 3D Models in Token Mode: Become 3D Tokens in Prop Mode: Become unmovable props PDFs: directly view them on the PDF board. With multi page pdf flipping Yes, other players in a shared session see the page flip with you Modular Tracking: Configurable widget layouts allow you to build and organize your own character/game managers the way you want. Current widgets available: Sliders and Counters: Perfect for health and resource tracking List and Tables: Great for attribute, skill, inventory and even turn order tracking! Notes: With support for tabs and images Drawings: You can doodle on the VTT too, but that’s shared with everybody. Why not also be able to doodle on your digital character manager? Also with tab support and image importing. PDFs: Quick access to the various documents you’d want to have on hand. And more!

D&D Beyond

Virtual tabletop (VTT)
English
Wizards of the Coast
D&D Beyond is the official digital toolset for Dungeons & Dragons, originally launched in 2017 and acquired by Wizards of the Coast in 2022. It serves as the primary ecosystem for the 5th Edition ruleset and the updated 2024 "5.5e" core rules. In 2026, the platform is undergoing a massive "Game Platform" rebuild, moving away from its original hard-coded architecture to a data-driven engine. This allows the platform to support more complex customization and the new "Season" based content release model introduced this year. Description D&D Beyond is the definitive "companion app" for D&D. It combines a high-speed character builder, a digital library of all official sourcebooks, and a native 2D virtual tabletop called Maps. The platform is designed to be the easiest way to play the game, handling all calculations, spell slots, and inventory management automatically. With the 2026 "Season of Horror" and "Season of Magic" updates, it has become a living platform that delivers monthly content drops and themed community events directly to player character sheets. System Overview & Key Features The 2026 Game Engine Rebuild Wizards of the Coast is currently rebuilding the backend of D&D Beyond from the ground up. This move allows the site to finally support highly requested features like custom classes, complex homebrew non-magical equipment, and more responsive rules validation that doesn't rely on legacy code from 2017. The Maps VTT The integrated 2D virtual tabletop is now free for all users to host games as of late 2025. It features "Quickplay Maps" for all official adventures, allowing GMs to launch a session with pre-placed tokens and fog of war. New "Reveals" functionality lets GMs share high-resolution gallery art and monster lore directly to players' screens during play. New "Quickbuilder" Flow To improve onboarding, the 2026 character builder features an "art-forward" Quickbuilder mode. It guides players through the most impactful decisions—like subclass and background—while using optimized defaults for smaller details, allowing a new hero to be ready for play in under five minutes. Content Sharing (Master Tier) The Master Tier subscription remains the most popular for groups. It allows a single user to share their entire digital library—including the new 2026 Ravenloft: The Horror Within and Arcana Unleashed books—with up to 12 players across five different campaigns. Legacy vs Core Toggles Following community feedback, the platform now features robust toggles to enable or disable "Legacy" (2014) content. This ensures that groups can choose to stick strictly to the 2024 rules or mix in older subclasses and spells without the interface becoming cluttered or confusing. Digital/Physical Integration Most new 2026 book releases now feature a "Physical + Digital" bundle. When you buy a hardcover from the official store, you receive an instant unlock code for D&D Beyond, ensuring your character builder and digital library are updated before the physical book even arrives in the mail.
