We reached the West-gate of Moria at dusk. Nobody remembered the password, so the party spent forty real-world minutes guessing. Pippin threw stones into the lake. The lake threw back a tentacle. The Watcher grabbed Frodo by the ankle. Aragorn's player rolled a natural 20 to cut him free, and Gimli's player has not stopped talking about it. The doors slammed shut behind us. We are now in the dark, with one torch and a wizard who says he knows the way. Loot: none. Lesson learned: do not throw things into dark water.
We tried the pass over Caradhras. The mountain did not agree. Snow up to the hobbits' chins, voices in the wind, and rocks falling from nowhere. Boromir's player suggested fire. Legolas walked on top of the snow and was smug about it. We turned back. The party voted 4 to 2 for Moria. Gandalf's player abstained, with a face.
Nine walkers left Rivendell. Elrond gave a short speech that the GM read from a card, and nobody interrupted, which is a group first. Crebain from Dunland spotted us near the hills. We hid under bushes. Pippin's stealth roll was a 3.
A full session of talking. Everybody claimed the Ring for their own people, then nobody wanted to carry it. Frodo volunteered. The rest of the party joined one by one. Minutes are in Handouts.
