Saga20

Dungeons & Dragons
Worldbuilding
Saga20 is the campaign tool that keeps up with your table. It is a full world builder, a campaign wiki, a session summarizer, a character sheet system and a shared player portal, and all of it runs off one action: hit record. Play the session, upload the audio, and Saga20 works out who spoke, writes the recap, and pushes what happened into every world page it touched. Characters, locations, factions and items each keep their own page, their own timeline, and a link back to the session where it happened. Most world builders need you to update them. This one updates itself. It works for every TTRPG system, from D&D across all editions to Pathfinder 1e and 2e, Call of Cthulhu, Cyberpunk RED and Vampire: The Masquerade, with character sheets built into the app. The app is quickly growing in popularity and is already being used and trusted by thousands of GMs. Description Every campaign wiki dies the same death. Immaculate for four sessions, then the group plays a long night, nobody writes it up, and a month later the wiki describes a campaign that no longer exists. Saga20 fixes that at the source. The session is the input, and the world updates because you played, not because you did homework afterwards. Underneath the automation is a proper world builder. Characters, NPCs, locations, factions, items, deities, starships, corporations, clues, house rules: anything in the campaign gets a real page, with rich text, images, custom icons and cover art, organized into folders and templates and custom entity types for whatever the world needs. Search reaches every page instantly. A campaign graph draws who knows whom. Interactive maps carry routes, regions, pins and the party's current position. Build it all by hand if that is the fun part, or you can import an existing world across from Obsidian, Notion, Google Docs or World Anvil and carry on from there. You can then upload session recordings to automatically update your world wiki. Anyone at the table can record, on a phone, a dedicated mic, Discord or Zoom, and nobody else has to install anything. Saga20 generates the Session Notes including choices, clues, quests and consequences that happened during the session then automatically updates the world pages so you'll always have an up to date wiki without having to spend hours after every session.  It is not only the GM's tool but a tool for the entire table. Players can read the campaign and session notes without an account, or choose to claim their own characters, keep their character sheets on the same page as the story, and arrive at the next session actually remembering the last one. The wiki can be themed to match the setting and published on its own link. Prep, play, notes and the whole table, in one place.

D&D Beyond

Virtual tabletop (VTT)
English
D&D Beyond is the official digital toolset for Dungeons & Dragons, originally launched in 2017 and acquired by Wizards of the Coast in 2022. It serves as the primary ecosystem for the 5th Edition ruleset and the updated 2024 "5.5e" core rules. In 2026, the platform is undergoing a massive "Game Platform" rebuild, moving away from its original hard-coded architecture to a data-driven engine. This allows the platform to support more complex customization and the new "Season" based content release model introduced this year. Description D&D Beyond is the definitive "companion app" for D&D. It combines a high-speed character builder, a digital library of all official sourcebooks, and a native 2D virtual tabletop called Maps. The platform is designed to be the easiest way to play the game, handling all calculations, spell slots, and inventory management automatically. With the 2026 "Season of Horror" and "Season of Magic" updates, it has become a living platform that delivers monthly content drops and themed community events directly to player character sheets. System Overview & Key Features The 2026 Game Engine Rebuild Wizards of the Coast is currently rebuilding the backend of D&D Beyond from the ground up. This move allows the site to finally support highly requested features like custom classes, complex homebrew non-magical equipment, and more responsive rules validation that doesn't rely on legacy code from 2017. The Maps VTT The integrated 2D virtual tabletop is now free for all users to host games as of late 2025. It features "Quickplay Maps" for all official adventures, allowing GMs to launch a session with pre-placed tokens and fog of war. New "Reveals" functionality lets GMs share high-resolution gallery art and monster lore directly to players' screens during play. New "Quickbuilder" Flow To improve onboarding, the 2026 character builder features an "art-forward" Quickbuilder mode. It guides players through the most impactful decisions—like subclass and background—while using optimized defaults for smaller details, allowing a new hero to be ready for play in under five minutes. Content Sharing (Master Tier) The Master Tier subscription remains the most popular for groups. It allows a single user to share their entire digital library—including the new 2026 Ravenloft: The Horror Within and Arcana Unleashed books—with up to 12 players across five different campaigns. Legacy vs Core Toggles Following community feedback, the platform now features robust toggles to enable or disable "Legacy" (2014) content. This ensures that groups can choose to stick strictly to the 2024 rules or mix in older subclasses and spells without the interface becoming cluttered or confusing. Digital/Physical Integration Most new 2026 book releases now feature a "Physical + Digital" bundle. When you buy a hardcover from the official store, you receive an instant unlock code for D&D Beyond, ensuring your character builder and digital library are updated before the physical book even arrives in the mail. Rollcall Tavern

Rollcall Tavern

Virtual tabletop (VTT)
English
RollCall Tavern is a browser based toolset for running table top RPG's. The intent was to put everything a session needs in one place, For the DM it provides a single workbench for the campaign. The DM can take Notes, create NPCs, and generate battle and more. A story map helps organize and branch your thoughts visually. While, battle maps calculate line of sight, so walls block vision and each player sees only what their character can see. Built in combat tracker helps you run and calculate enemy damage. Rollcall Tavern also allows you to push images to the players, anytime so you can share more than just battle maps. Run your campaign the way you want it to be run. For players the experience runs on any browser. They see the current map and any material the DM pushes to them, and on their turn they attack, cast, move and end their turn from a single action bar. Player sheets and inventory tracking also help players stay organized and ready to go. Everything runs in a browser. There is nothing to install, and a session works the same way whether the group is gathered around one table or playing remotely. RollCall Tavern is free to use. The only paid component is optional AI art and text generation, which is disabled by default and can be ignored entirely. A full campaign can be run without it. All campaign data exports as JSON and accounts can be deleted at any time.

Session Forge

Session Forge

English
Dungeons & Dragons
Session Forge is an offline game master toolkit for fantasy tabletop RPGs, made by Donald Stelling of Digital Underground. Instead of another long PDF, it is a single HTML hub that the GM opens in a web browser and uses at the table to prepare and run sessions. It holds 14 tools: encounters, NPCs, loot, initiative, session notes, dungeons, taverns, quests, rumors, villains, weather and travel, settlements, a one-click one-shot outline, and a short GM playbook. Tools for running the table - Encounter Forge builds fights on an XP budget set by party level, party size and difficulty (Easy to Deadly). Each encounter comes with a motive and a twist, and the creatures are drawn from 198 original 5e-style stat lines. - Initiative Tracker handles HP, AC, conditions, group adds and d20 rolls. Rounds and turn order save automatically, so combat survives closing the browser. Fights made in Encounter Forge can be sent straight into the tracker. - Session Notes saves as the GM types, offers random sparks for quick ideas, and keeps a full archive that can be restored. - GM Playbook explains how to use the tools live without slowing the game down. Generators - Full Session: a one-click one-shot outline with a hook, NPCs, a villain, a journey, two fights, a site, treasure and a twist. - NPC Generator: 8 naming cultures, plus role, voice, quirk, secret and adventure hook, and a "crowd of six" mode. - Loot Tables: common to very rare items, plus gems, art objects and 64 curses. - Taverns & Shops: taverns and shops with priced wares. - Dungeon Builder: dungeons of 3 to 12 rooms, with a boss scaled to the party. - Quest Hooks, Villain Forge and Settlements. - Rumor Mill: rumors with a GM-only truth rating. - Weather & Travel: 6 climates and 4 seasons. On every generator, the GM can lock a line and reroll the rest, go back through a saved history of the last 20 rolls, copy results as text or Markdown, download them as .md or .txt, and send them to Session Notes in one click. Seeds are repeatable, so the same seed always gives the same result. How it works The GM downloads a ZIP, opens index.html and bookmarks it for game night. After that one download, Session Forge runs fully offline with no account. Data is saved in the browser, and the home page has backup and restore. It works in a browser on desktop and on mobile. Systems and fit The stats are 5e-flavored so they feel familiar, and the content is easy to reskin for OSR games, Pathfinder or homebrew settings. All generator content is original; it is not a dump of official rulebook text. Session Forge suits GMs running 5e-compatible fantasy, one-shots and west-marches campaigns, and GMs who improvise and need ideas fast. It is not a virtual tabletop plugin: it runs locally in the browser and does not connect to Foundry VTT or Roll20. Price and license Session Forge is a one-time purchase from CAD$14.99 (pay what you want above that) on Gumroad. The license is personal, single-GM use. Version 2 raised the toolkit from 6 tools to 14, and earlier buyers get v2 free by downloading again; their v1 saves carry over.
