When a respected professor dies under mysterious circumstances, a group of adventurers arrives to settle his affairs—only to discover that something within the ruined prison has begun to awaken. Whispers spread through the village. Strange symbols appear overnight. The dead refuse to remain silent. As fear takes hold of Ravengro, the party must investigate the professor’s final research, earn the trust of suspicious townsfolk, and uncover the truth behind the horrors haunting Harrowstone. From the idyllically peaceful coastal town of Sandpoint to an ancient lost city at the top of the world, Rise of the Runelords takes a party of adventurers from 1st to over 18th level and delves into the mysteries of Varisia's ancient past. Millennia ago, the powerful empire of Thassillon ruled the land, dominated by despotic runelords who maintained their power through harnessing the power of rune magic. Thought gone forever, the workings of Thassilon are not so far beneath the surface and one of the runelords plans a return to power. Only the brave adventurers stand in his way. Looking to recruit a table of 4 players to play through Paizo's first AP under Pathfinder 1 rules. Character Creation Rules : 25 point buy, PHB races allowed by default and any others by approval. All traits allowed, but no drawbacks. No unchained classes or evil characters. I also reserve the right to veto any character choices if I feel it will disrupt the game. Please do not optimize to the Nth degree. My expectations: No toxicity or bigots of any kind. If I feel anyone is breaking these rules, I will boot them without a refund. Please be cool and don't make me do that. What you should expect: I have been playing and DMing for a long time though this is my first paid game ever. I do request a little patience. I also would appreciate constructive criticism as I can always get better. If there is an argument about rules, I will make a ruling on the spot and table the conversation until after the game unless it is vital(AKA a PC is going to die because of it). Also I like personalizing the story to the PCs which may mean a custom side story for a particular player. I also believe in the trains running on time meaning I will not cancel the game when one or more PCs cannot make it. If I have to improvise a side story for 1 player, so be it. Game will be run on Roll20 and we will be using discord for voice.

A place mixing magic and technology, the Xedian continent is primarily ruled by the Asosallian Empire headed by Emperor Sata Ralda IV. It is an expansionistic Empire that has set its sights on the continent to the South and region to the East of the Empire, but has been held off by war and political tension respectively. The Empire views the people to the East of its borders as allies, but tension is high, while people found elsewhere in the world are to be brought under the power of Emperor Ralda himself. This campaign is set for a party of four to six adventurers and has a small focus on exploration and survival, while the grander plot focuses on gaining knowledge and accumulating resources to survive a harsh nation. At the beginning of the campaign, the players will find themselves arrested for crimes they didn’t (or did?) commit, being brought across the Nora River to the town of Bieyron to the East. They have overheard that they are to be slated for execution by hanging, no matter their crime, as they are being made examples of to the general populace. Payment will be collected weekly via paypal at a rate of 5$ per hour played, up to a maximum of 15$ for three hours per session. If session goes over that, such as being in the middle of a combat or an intense scene, you will not be charged additional unless the agreed upon time frame is longer than three hours. The time to play is subject to change depending on what works for the group. Please see the Post Interest listing discussion below as well as the players guide.
