Ruin has come to our family

Homebrew
House rules, a custom setting, or a system the Game Master wrote themselves.
Newbie friendly
New players are welcome, and nobody expects you to know the rules beforehand.
"You remember our venerable house, opulent and imperial. It is a festering abomination! I beg you. Return home; claim your birthright, and deliver our family from the ravenous, clutching shadows of the Darkest Dungeon." Hi everyone I'm looking for 4-6 players for a Darkest Dungeon themed old school D&D campaign. I'll be running it through Old School Essentials (A repackaging of Basic/Expert D&D) with some fairly heavy homebrewing to make it fit the source material (Stress, Quirks, Unique Heroes) It should be fairly accessible to anyone, regardless of your experience with D&D or old school play. The overall focus will be on delving the dungeons of the region, recovering artefacts, amassing wealth and getting powerful enough to finally defeat the evil deep beneath the manor. Currently looking at Sunday 6pm CET / 12pm EDT with some room for flexibility based on replies. Play will be on Discord. Open to any enjoyer of Darkest Dungeon, regardless of experience. Drop me a DM if you're interested and tell me who your favourite hero is. I look forward to hearing from you!

Welcome to Stonehell a classic dungeon crawl

Adult
The table is for players who are 18 or over.
LGBTQ+ friendly
The table is openly welcoming to LGBTQ+ players.
We’re an in-person tabletop group focused on trying a wide variety of systems and styles, from narrative-driven games like Brindlewood Bay and Wildsea to more tactical experiences like Tresspasser or Drawsteel. Our next campaign will be an OSR-style dungeon crawl using Stonehell Megadungeon with the Old-School Essentials (OSE) system. The emphasis will be on clever play—using tools, resources, and careful decision-making to out-think the dungeon rather than brute force it. No prior experience with **any** system is required. What matters most is your approach to play and how well you fit with the group socially. We value collaboration, adaptability, and a shared focus on having a good time at the table. We take turns running games and prefer 6-8 week campaigns. If you are only looking to just be a player **AWESOME** if you maybe want to try being a GM/DM that's great too! We’re looking for consistent in-person players who enjoy experimenting with different styles of TTRPGs and being part of an open, friendly group that prioritizes fun and exploration over strict rules enforcement. LGBTQ+ Friendly! We typically meet every week on Mondays 5:30-9:00 \[MST\] in Pleasant Grove, UT. Send me a message on Reddit and we can talk more about specifics!

Time: Monday, June 1st at 6:30pm CST (7:30pm EST, 4:30pm PST) Restrictions/Requirements: Working mic, Roll 20, adults only. The Sinister Secret of Peacock Point: Explore an abandoned insect-haunted thieves guild secreted beneath a light house! An elderly wizard has offered to reward you handsomely for retrieving his Music Box from the infamous Apple Bottom Gang. “Whatever you do, DON’T OPEN THE BOX!” What is Old School Essentials? The Basic/Expert Rules were an official D&D ruleset that were published concurrently with the (more well known) editions of AD&D. For this game we are using the Old School Essentials books, which are reprints of B/X with minor quality of life improvements (ex. The infamous THAC0 system can be swapped for modern D&D’s AC system).

[GMT+1] OSE Classic Fantasy: B5 Horror on the Hill

Newbie friendly
New players are welcome, and nobody expects you to know the rules beforehand.
Game: OSE Classic Fantasy Day: Mondays Time: 6.30 PM - 9.30 PM (GMT+1) Frequency: Weekly Location: Roll20 + Discord (voice) I'm running an OSE Classic Fantasy campaign on Mondays, 18:30 to 21:30 (GMT+1). We have four players, but not everyone can make it every week. As such, we're looking for one or two more to join us so we can play more regularly. Both new and experienced players are welcome. We've had 28 sessions so far. Currently, the party is made up of characters ranging from 1st to 3rd level. Players often control multiple characters each session, although this is not a requirement. If you decide to join, you can roll up your own character or take control of a pre-existing one. Adventures take place around Guido's Fort, an isolated frontier settlement in a far-west region. We've been playing through B5 Horror on the Hill, although the party is presently involved in unrelated affairs. I've included homebrew content in the surrounding area, so the module is by no means the sole focus of the campaign. You can expect your typical classic-fantasy fare: exploring dungeons, fighting humanoids, contending with traps, and (hopefully) finding treasure. We don't do a lot of roleplaying, nor is there much focus on character development. Much of the conversation during sessions is out-of-character, although interactions with monsters and NPCs are often in-character. We've just switched from Owlbear Rodeo to Roll20, so there may be a short adjustment period while I get used to it. We use tokens and combat is grid-based. Sometimes the players draw the map, other times I'll draw it for them. Here is a non-exhaustive list of house rules: - Ascending AC - Combat Talents for Fighters - D6 Thief Skills - No Clerics of Neutral alignment - Chaotic Clerics have a variant turning ability (Pacify/Enthral) - 10-slot inventory (inspired by Cairn) If you have any questions or would like to join, please get in touch.

Seeking Players for All-PoC OSE Group

[Aurora/East Denver] Experience: Total beginners are absolutely welcome! I am happy to teach the rules. I am looking to start a brand-new, weekly or bi-weekly Old School Essentials (OSE) campaign and I need 3 players to help me build an all-PoC founding group from the ground up! What is OSE? It’s a "classic fantasy" system based on the original 1980s B/X rules. It’s fast-paced, high-stakes, and focused on exploration and clever problem-solving rather than just complex math. Who am I looking for? Demographic: Specifically looking for PoC players to create a dedicated safe-space tabletop environment. The Vibe: Creative, inclusive, and atmospheric dungeon crawling.  The Logistics: Location: Public meetups at shops like Crit Castle Games or All C's Gaming Arena in Aurora. Schedule: To be finalized by the group (aiming for weekend afternoons or weekday evenings). Safety: We will use a robust Safety & Consent policy (Lines/Veils and/or Monte Cook Consent Form) to ensure everyone has a great time.  Interested? Drop a comment below or send me a DM with a little bit about your TTRPG experience (or lack thereof—it's okay!) and what kind of characters you like to play.

Roads of Dolmenwood

Roleplay focused
Conversation, character and story take up most of the table time.
Newbie friendly
New players are welcome, and nobody expects you to know the rules beforehand.
Hello! As a long-time CoC/Spire/Heart GM who's recently gotten into the OSR scene by way of Shadowdark, join me as I learn to run Dolmenwood! 5 of us will run a session 0, and a ~15 session mini-campaign starting from Level 1. We'll play biweekly by way of Discord and Fantasy Grounds. This is a free-to-play, beginner-friendly game, and we're looking for 1-2 more players. I want to run a player-driven game, where the plot beats primarily come from your character motivations that push you to explore the wild places, unravel the secrets of deep magic, and perhaps journey along fairy-roads. The game will lean towards a LOtR Two-Towers vibe, with touches of The Wicker Man (1973) and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. Our game will focus on organic exploration through hexcrawl and faction interplay, as the secrets of the world and long-held grudges unfold around the players. Session 0 will hopefully be Monday, Mar 16th, 17:00 to 21:00 GMT (12:00-4:00 PM EST). Send me a DM to discuss! What's Dolmenwood? A fantasy setting steeped in folklore and fae, built around the Old School Essentials rules, blending the dark and whimsical, the wonderous and weird. Dolmenwood is a system and a setting, both of which tend toward strong character relationships with the world, and the holy, arcane, or fae magics that pervade the layered histories there. - The setting blends inspiration from Tolkien, Dunsany, Machen, folk-horror, and political intrigue of lords and ladies in high-courts. - Play as proud, goat-headed Breggle, a starry-eyed elf stepped straight from Fairy, a tricksome grimalkin cat-fairy, a worldly or hapless human, a fungus-riddled Mossling, or a capricious, bat-faced Woodgrue. - Choose from nine classes: the charming bard, ardent cleric, willful enchanter, dashing fighter, jolly friar, stealthy hunter, haughty knight, enigmatic magician, or wily thief. - Dolmenwood offers us classic dungeon crawls powered by random encounters and flavorful puzzles, and if we progress, engaging hexcrawling and settlements. Table Expectations I love roleplay focused games, where character relationships unfold between PCs, NPCs, and the environment. For me, the roleplay environment works best when everyone has some commitment to the theme and tone. There's always room for above the table jokes and conversation, but I hope you'll feel comfortable embodying your character during gameplay as the story progresses. The OSE system has many rule differences from games I and many players are used to, and as such, players need to be gracious as we all learn the system. Our table will be best suited for players interested in telling stories built on strong character motivation and a genuine curiosity about the setting of Dolmenwood as presented through gameplay. We will be an adult table, respectful, jovial, and LGBTQ+ friendly.

Danger in the Delta-A Sandbox Campaign

Starting Sunday February 1st, we’ll be playing from 5pm until 9pm, Eastern Timezone, biweekly. That first session is going to be a “Session Zero” during which we’ll make characters, talk over the rules, and discuss the setting. We will be using the OSE advanced rules (not race as class, no THAC0), and including most of the Carcass Crawler zine stuff as well. The setting is a swampy province called the Delta and is mostly a typical fantasy setting. It’ll be a sandbox with multiple, smaller dungeons to explore. I’ve only ran the game a time or two so be patient with me. That in mind, players with no experience, or just experience with modern systems are very welcome. We have two confirmed players and a Referee (that’s me!). We have threemore spots available currently. We’ll be using discord for voice and dice rolls. We won’t be using a vtt as I’ll be drawing the dungeon maps as we go. We’ll be using shared Google Sheets to make, edit and share character sheets and other campaign resources.
